Cell Membrane and Transportation/ATP Flashcards
Lipid Bilayer
2 layers of lipid moelcules.
Phospholipd Structure
Hydrophilic head and 2 hydrophobic tails.
Adhesion Proteins
Helps cells of the same type stick together.
Communication Proteins
Form channels between 2 different cells, letting signals & substances flow between.
Receptor Proteins
Binds Substances that trigger cell activties.
Recognition Proteins
Identify Foreign bodies in a tissue.
Transport Proteins
Moves solutes through the membrane.
Active Transport
Requires Energy. Low to high
Passive Transport
Does not require energy. High to low
Hypotonic
Low solutes - Cell will swell
Hypertonic
High solutes - Cell will shrink
Isotonic
Same solutes
Diffusion
Net movement from High to Low concentration.
Osmosis
Diffusion of water
Endocytosis
Cell eating
