Cell Cycle Flashcards
Parts of Interphase
G1, S, G2, G0
Parts of mitosis
Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase –> cytokinesis
Cytokinesis in animal cells
cleavage furrow is formed and cuts the cytosol into two new cells
Cytokinesis in plant cells
a cell plate is built within the dividing cell, providing new cell wall material for daughter cells
S phase
DNA is copied
G1 phase
cell grow and prepare for DNA replication
G2 phase
cell grows and prepares materials for mitosis (proteins and spindle fibers)
Prophase
nuclear membrane dissolves, chromosomes condense, spindle fibers form
Metaphase
chromosomes align along the center of the cell
Anaphase
chromosomes split at centromere and pulled to opposite poles
Telophase
two new nuclear membranes form
DNA Damage checkpoint
where
between G1 and S
DNA Replication checkpoint
where
between G2 and M phase
Spindle assembly checkpoint
where
metaphase of mitosis
