Q

How exactly does diffusion limit how big a cell get?

A

Because diffusion is faster than the flash, and important nutrients such as water and oxygen need to enter the cell. It gets humongous which is hard for the cell to do anything.

Q

How does the cell growing too large affect the DNA?… its just little strands right? How in the world can that limit AN ENTIRE CELL?

A

It isn’t just “little strands” dummy, when the cell is large, it can be hard for the DNA to give out instructions for the cell to function properly.

Q

Which part of the cell grows faster, the surface area or the volume? Explain your answer.

A

The volume grows faster because it is cubed, where as surface area is squared.

Q

What are the advantages of having organisms that follow sexual reproduction?

A

It produces genetic variations, and it can adapt to new environment due to their variation.

Q

What are the advantages to having organisms that follow asexual reproduction?

A

You only need one organism, and it is 10x more faster than sexual reproduction (not tryna start competition)

Q

Why does volume conflicts with cell growth?

A

Because the plasma membrane can’t maintain it’s shape, and the cells could burst due to the volume increasing at a faster rate.
