Cell Cycle Flashcards
What is interphase?
preparing for cell division, cell is growing + copying DNA while doing life function
What are the 3 phases of Interphase?
G1, S, G2
What is the First Growth Phase?
Growth period, produces new protein & organelles
What is the synthesis phase?
Makes a copy of DNA of cell
What is the Second Growth Phase
Produces Organelles and structures needed for cell division
What are the phases of mitosis
prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telaphase,
What is not a part of mitosis but happens around the same time as cell division?
Cytokenesis
Prophase:
Chromosomes condense
nuclear membrane dissolves
Spindle fibres form
centrioles move apart
Metaphase:
chromosomes line up against the equater
Spindle fibres attach to centrosomes to centrioles
Anaphase:
Chromotids seperate
Chromosomes are pulled up to opposite sides
Telaphase:
Chrosomes strech out
A new nuclear membrane form for each new cell
Cytokenesis:
cytoplasm divides to form 2 identical cells
