Cell Cycle Flashcards
1
Q
What are the 4 functions Interphase
A
- Longest Stage
- Cell carries out all life activities
+ Growth
+ Cellular Respiration
+ Protein Production M - More Organelles are formed
- Genetic material (DNA) are visible called chromatin
2
Q
What are the 5 functions of Prophase
A
- Chromatin condenses and can only be seen has chromosomes
- Chromosomes are 2 identical sister chromatids held by a centromere
- Nuclear membrane breaks down
- Nucleolus disappears
- Spindle fiber form from the centromere
3
Q
What are the 2 functions of Metaphase
A
- Chromosomes line up in the center of the cell (the meta plate)
- Spindle fibers are connected to the centromere of each chromosome
Remember “ Metaphase = Middle”
4
Q
What are the 3 functions of Anaphase
A
- Spindle fibers pull chromosomes apart by splitting the centromere
- each chromatid is called a daughter chromosome
- daughter chromosomes move to opposite sides of the cell
5
Q
What are the 4 functions of telophase
A
- Final step of mitosis
- Nuclear membrane reforms around each group of daughter chromosomes
- Chromosomes stretch out and become thinner until no longer visible
- Nucleolus reappears
6
Q
What are the 3 functions of Cytokinesis
A
- Splits the cell into two daughter cells
- Each cell as its own nucleus
- 46ss in each identical daughter cell
7
Q
How many strands are in each one
A
Interphase= 46ss doubles into 92ss Prophase= 46ds (double strands) Metaphase= 46s Anaphase= 46 in each groups Cytoknesis= 46ss in each identical daughter cell
