Resistentes a muchas betalactamasas → gran actividad contra enterobacterias, así como Neisseria y H. influenzae
Menos eficaces contra G(+) que los de 1° gen, pero tienen buena actividad contra S. pneumoniae con resistencia intermedia a penicilina
