CD8+ cells and CTLs Flashcards
1
Q
describe the relationship between CD8+ cells and CTLs
A
IL-2 promotes differentiation of CD8+ cells into CLTs
2
Q
what does CTL mean and what is there fucntion
A
CTL= cytotoxic T cell function = migrate out of secondary lymph node and to site of infection to kill virally infected host cells
3
Q
explain how CTLs kill infected host cells
A
MHC 1 molecules are expressed on any nucleated molecule, on normal host cells normal self-peptides are presented, but on virally infected cells viral-peptides are expressed and so CTLs can recognise and kill cell
