What is TUR syndrome? What are SS of this?
A
Is the absorption of excessive irrigating solution through the prostate during surgery. N/V, agitation, hypervolemia (inc BP), acute RF, hemolysis, visual disturbances, bradycardia, tachypnea.

What are we always doing before manually irrigating a CBI?
A
Assessing for bladder distention

Why are we instilling a “cushion” amount of fluid into the bladder before irrigating?
A
To prevent damage to bladder wall

How do we know when we are done irrigating the bladder?
A
Returns are clear, clots are removed and patient is comfortable.

What are treatment methods of bladder spasm?
A
Irrigation, BandO suppository, analgesic, toileting.
