Ovaries
Hormone produced?
Make oestrogen and progesterone. Controls female development during puberty.
Testes
Hormone produced?
Testosterone. Controls male development during puberty.
Pituitary
Hormone produced?
Growth hormone, LH and FSH
Pancreas
Hormone produced?
Insulin and glucagon. Controls blood sugar levels.
Adrenal
Hormone produced
Adrenaline. Gets body ready for ‘flight or fight’ response.
Thyroid
Hormone produced?
Thyroxine. Controls how quickly chemical reactions happen in the body.
FSH

Produced in pituatary gland. This causes the egg to mature and stimulates the ovaries to produce oestrogen.
Oestrogen

Secreted in the ovaries. This causes the pituitary gland to stop producing FSH and produce LH instead.
LH

Produced in the pituitary gland. This stimulates the release of a mature egg.
Progesterone

Secreted in the ovaries. This is secreted by the follicle after the egg has been released and becomes the corpus luteum.
