Cavity Nomenclature Flashcards
Cavity Margins
The junction between the walls of cavity prep and the external surface of the tooth
Cavo-surface margin angle
Where prepped tooth surface meets unprepped tooth surface
Line angles
Line formed where 2 surfaces meet
Occlusal/ pulpal floor
the occlusal floor of the cavity surface which is parallel to occlusal plane and overlies the pulp
Gingival floor
a cavity surface in an approximal cavity that is approximately parallel to occlusal plane and is bounded by the gingival margin
Buccal/ lingual axial wall
The axial wall is a cavity surface which is bounded by the cavo-surface angle and the cavity floor
Pulpal axial wall
Axial wall is a cavity surface that is parallel to the long axis of the tooth
Isthmus
Least wide part of the occlusal key cut in a proximo-occlusal preparation as a retentive form.
