Q

List the principles of tooth preparation we need to consider when doing fillings:

17
Q

List the 9 steps of tooth preparation :

18
Q

In general what is the correct alignment of rotary instruments when we are dealing with caries on the

a) occlusal/proximal surfaces
b)facial/ oral surfaces

19
Q

Define the principle of Resistance form:

A

prevention of fracture of restoration or tooth structure under occlusal forces.

Factors affecting resistance form:
* depth of the cavity
* thickness of remaining cavity walls
* internal angles
* pulpal wall (floor)
* cavosurface angle

20
Q

Define the principle of Retention form + give 2 types ‘locks’ that we can place on a filling to ensure it doesn’t fall out.

21
Q

Define the principle of Convenience

22
Q

Define the principle of Caries removal

23
Q

Define the principle of External wall finishing

24
Q

Define the principle of Cavity debridement

25
What surface does a class V filling involve and what filling material can we use to restore it?
Surface of Class V decay: gingival 1/3 of buccal/lingual surface on any teeth Filling material we can use: Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) or Composite Resin (CR)
26
Objectives of tooth preparation of class V decay:
27
The difference when preparing a filling using GIC (glass Ionomer cement) vs CR (composite resin):
After drilling out all of carious part of teeth (dimensions in picture), we can fill it with GIC. If using CR instead then we need to do an extra step
