Why does rural to urban migration happen? (Push and pull factors)
Push- lack of opportunity and jobs
Pull- Jobs, higher wages, education
Why does a natural increase occur?
Couples in the towns and cities have children, population in towns and cities have improved healthcare- so live longer
Why have rich countries been urbanised for longer?
Machinery replaced farm labour in rural areas, so people moved to the cities to get jobs in factories
Why are poor countries rapidly urbanising?
As they are attracted by the number of jobs in cities, people believe the standard of living is better in cities, there’s a shortage of services in rural areas
