Question 1

Multās per gentēs et multa per aequora vectus adveniō hās miserās, frāter, ad īnferiās, ut tē postrēmō dōnārem mūnere mortis et mūtam nēquīquam alloquerer cinerem.

Answer 1

Having been carried through many people in through many seas I come to miserable funeral rites brother so that I might give the final gift of death to you and so that I might speak to the silent ash in vain.

quandoquidem fortūna mihī tētē abstulit ipsum. heu miser indignē frāter adēmpte mihi,

Since fortune has taken away you yourself from me, Alas miserable brother undeservedly taken from me,

nunc tamen intereā haec, prīscō quae mōre parentum trādita sunt trīstī mūnere ad īnferiās, accipe frāternō multum mānantia flētū, atque in perpetuum, frāter, avē atque valē.

Now however meanwhile, accept these things which have been handed down by the ancient custom of the parents as a sad gift for funeral rites much flowing with a brotherly tear, and forever brother, hail and farewell.
