Catabolic Reaction Pt.2 Flashcards
What are the 3 main Carbohydrate Substrate to Monomers, their enzymes, and an example
Cellulose to glucose: enzyme is cellulase, ex. is Clostridium sp., Actinomyces sp.
Starch to glucose: enzyme is amylase, ex. is Bacillus subtilis;
Lactose to glucose and galactose: enzyme is b-galactosidase (lactase), ex. is E.coli
What are the 3 main Lipid Substrate to monomers, their enzymes, examples of each, and media used
Triglycerides: glycerol and fatty acids, enzyme is lipase, examples include Staphylococcus aureus and Media is Spirit Blue Agar; phospholipids: Hemolytic (gas gangrene) Phosphorylcholine and fatty acid, enzyme is phospholipase, media is egg yolk agar; Fatty acids use beta oxidation
What is the protein to substrate to monomers, the enzyme used, and example of it and the media used
Enzyme: protease, organism is Serratia marcescens, media used is skim milk agar
What are the 4 types of amino acid metabolisms?
Dehydrogenase- remove or adds ammonia
Synthetase - adds ammonia
Transaminase - transfers ammonia
Synthase- transfers ammonia
What are the 3 types of Phototrophy?
Photophosphorylation: light-mediated ATP
synthesis
Photoautotrophs: use ATP for assimilation of CO2 for biosynthesis
Photoheterotrophs: use ATP for assimilation of organic carbon for biosynthesis
