Q

What regulations were created about testosterone?

A
  • New regulations said to be eligible to compete as woman you had to have a certian level of testosterone, on the assumption that testosterone was the reson behind a difference in athletic performance
  • If women have too much of male hormone they will be considered to have a competitive advantage
  • May have to undergo treatment to lower levels of “androgen”

Q

But why was this problematic?

A
  • But there is not enough scientific proof to show higher testosterone gives women a competitive advantage
  • Even if it did, doesnt give right to ban Caster because just because she may have an advantage doesnt mean its an UNFAIR one
  • Tons of athletes have biological advantages ex: taller, higher lung capacity, etc

Q

What happened when other athletes had biological advantages?

A

They were praised for their successes
- the big question here is: why should there be a difference praising one individual for their biological advantage and punishing the other?
