cap panel / interior panel / head panel
the focal part of the interior, which fills the inside of the crown or uppermost part of the cap

casket is fully opened at the head and foot
half couch
the upper part (the crown) opens - ogee is fastened to the casket
perfection half couch
a casket in which the rim (ogee), crown, and pies are formed as one unit with a transverse cut in the cap, forming a two piece lid for the casket
slip casket / slip top / priest casket
casket opening style in which the cap or lid at the head end of the casket is completely removed from the casket for the purpose of viewing; the remains may be viewed from either side of the casket
foot panel
a component part of the casket interior which is inside the foot portion of the cap
inner panel
functional or ornamental covering that usually covers the foot end of the full couch casket; may be located at both head and foot of the full couch casket
single hinged panel
casket in which the cap is in 2 pieces; the rim/ogee and foot panel is one piece which is hinged to the top body molding; and the head panel being the second pieces which is hinged to the rim/ogee
roll / cove / puffing
component part of the casket interior which lines the rim/ogee and surrounds the cap panel
gimp / fold
a strip of metal, plastic, or cloth that is attached to the inside of the panel, covering the area which point the roll/cove is anchored
throw / overlay / overthrow
the aesthetic covering for the foot cap or inner foot panel of a perfection half couch
extend over
wraps over the top body molding. purely for aesthetic value
apron / overly skirt
the lining attached to the undersurface of the foot panel of the casket and/or a component part of the throw overly, which extends downward into the body of the casket
bed
portion of the casket upon which the deceased human remains are placed
bed - adjustable
has springs that can be raised or lowered
bed - stationary
is not able to be raised or lowered
mattress cover
interior cloth or material which covers the mattress or bedding of the casket
body lining
material that drapes the inside perimeter of the body of the casket
hinge cover / skirt
interior part that covers the hinges that attach the casket cap to the casket body; usually extends from the roll and becomes a part of the body lining
pillow
a cloth bag filled with soft material used to support the head of the deceased
blanket
a piece of fabric used to cover the body of a deceased, especially the lower legs and feet, when displayed in a full open casket
interior styles - crushed
created by placing a lining material on a metal form, adding weights, steaming and attaching to a suitable upholstery (backing material)

material drawn in parallel strips and sewn with multiple needles

created by placing padding material between lining and backing materials, forms small raised puffs, most expensive

fabric tightly stretched or drawn, creates smooth appearance

a fabric woven to create a smooth, lustrous face and dull back, made from silk, nylon, or rayon
