Where is Keyhaven?

How were the Keyhaven Marshes formed?
It is an accumulation of mud and silt in the sheltered part of a coastline.
Why are these marshes important?
Because of the unique plants and animals that live in those areas.

Birds, small species such as salt marsh water snake.
How are these species adapted to the environment?
They have evolved with the amount of salt and developed to withstand it.
What are the impacts of people on the Kayhaven salt marshes?
They disturb the wildlife, they trample over the land.
What is being done to manage the Kayhaven salt marshes?
They are zoning the area to keep people out. Signed footpaths have been put in place. it is designated as SSSI which is a site of special scientific interest. The area is monitored for the plants and the animals. The car parks are managed to ensure not too many people are there. The area is popular with boat uses and there are various laws and restrictions to protect the marsh. They have also had to use rock armour to protect them from being attacked by the sea.
What are the future issues for this area?
Maintain the protection of the marsh from the sea and because sea levels are rising due to global warming it will affect the area.
