A

Large scale redevelopments- High value area, houses lots of people and has low crime rates and unemployment’s in neighbourhoods

Local Improvements- Adds extra floor for all of the family members to be accommodated. Improved lighting, ventilation, toilets and baths. Linked work areas, communal workspace, extra terrace and kiln for pottery work. More people brought out of shanty towns, low cost, electricity and plumbing

What are some of the
negatives to the responses the government has made to improve the slums?

A

Large scale redevelopment- People relocated to smaller housing. Ancient fishing villages threatened whilst local shops, markets and the community spirit is put at risk. Only people that were in the slums by the year 2000 could be relocated, people work away from home with ruins the community cohesion

Local Improvement- Ideas only work while waters running. The waiting list for these properties are increasingly long
