What was Leeds Dock Before Resurgence?
Leeds Dock had opened in 1843, as part of yet another cog in the industrialisation movement of the North. It’s main purpose was the process of moving goods and materials along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and Aire Calder Navigation.
What was the Dock’s Primary Function?
It’s primary function was to link the waterways with the fledging Middleton Light Railway, and was mainly used to bring coal from collieries around Rothwell and Wakefield to help supply the heavy industries that congregated around Hurslet
