Case Study Flashcards
What is a CCF facade?
- Closed Cavity Facade
- DGU to external layer and single glazed to internal
- sealed non ventilated cavity
- automated shading device
What are the pros of CCF facade?
- Great thermal properties with low U-value
- Solar protection from shading
- Reduced maintenance costs
What is a listed building?
A building which is included on the statutory list of ‘buildings of special architectural or historic interest’
Any alternatives to CCF?
SCF - Self-Conditioning Façade
- Pressure equalized insulated glass, using natural ventilation without mechanical aid. Pressure compensation and air exchange is achieved by coupling the cavity to the exterior. The air exchange is necessary to balance the vapor conditions and control condensation. The conditioning of the cavity is self-regulating during its entire service life.
How can you guarantee cost certainty with the proposal of re tendering the non CCF facade?
Cost certainty isn’t 100% guaranteed but it was in my opinion the best option to keep the tender within the budget or as close to whilst not negatively affecting time or quality
What is the grades for listed buildings
- grade 1: exceptional importance
- grade 2: more than special interest
- grade 3: special interest
