What is a case study?
A
A very detailed investigation of an individual or small group of people, due to a small sample, the case study can conduct an in depth analysis of the individual/group

What are 2 strengths of case studies?
A
- Create opportunities for a rich yield of data and the depth analysis can bring high levels of validity
- Sometimes the only method that can be used to investigate an individual’s unique behaviour

What are 3 weaknesses of case studies?
A
- Often cannot be generalised to the rest of the population
- May lack validly due to investigator not being objective
- Case studies unusual by nature so will have poor reliability as replicating then will be unlikely
