case studies Flashcards
1
Q
strengths
A
- provides rich insight of the studies individual/ group and can capture the chance and dynamic of the variables over time which allows for cause and effect to be more accurately established
- necessary to conduct as it can be unethical or impractical to manipulate some of the variables being investigated
- helpful in stimulating new research if results are valuable
2
Q
weaknesses
A
- time-consuming to conduct (over a long period of time) and to analyse
- difficult and even almost impossible to replicate a study and it is so unique that it is difficult to generalise
- when qualitative data is used there is the risk for researcher bias in the data collection and interpretation phase
3
Q

A
An in-depth investigation of a single individual, group or institution
4
Q
