Q

How is HCV treated?

A

Until recently with alpha-interferon and ribavirin, but only worked in small proportion of people and had unpleasant side effects.

New specific antivirals exist: protease inhibitors and RNA polymerase inhibitors with 90% cure rate - but extremely expensive ($80,000USD)
