Caregiver infant attachment Flashcards
What is reciprocity
Responding to the action of another with a similar action, where the actions of one partner elicit a response from the other partner.
Interactional synchrony
when two people interact they tend to mirror what the other is doing in terms of their facial expressions and their body movements
Case study: Meltzoff
babies watched three different faces and a hand gesture. infants as young as 2-3 weeks imitated. inter-rater reliability
A03:
Problems with testing infant behaviour
can be unreliable because they frequently use different expressions so can be difficult to determine whether its intentional.
A03: Individual differences
Isabella and heimann
Isabella: strongly attached infant - greater interactional synchrony
Heimann: Infants who showed more imitation had a better relationship at 3 months
