What are decisions?
Resolutions to make up your mind about a choice after considering different options.
What does it mean to commit?
To promise to do something; to work very hard to do something; to not give up.
What are the key things you need to know before applying for a job?
- That it is really what you want to do.
- That you have information on all your options.
- You have researched the job in detail so you know what qualifications and skills you need for it.
What are the key things you need to know before applying to an HEI?
- What courses suit your interests best.
- Which HEI is the best in your field of study.
- What are the fees?
- HEI reputation.
- Accomodation arrangements for the study period.
How can you fund your studies at an HEI?
- Your parents can help.
- Student loan.
- Bursary.
- Learnership.
- Scholarship.
What is a bursary?
If you have high marks you could be allowed to study for free.
What is a scholarship?
A company, business or municipality agrees to pay for your studies based on marks.
What is a student loan?
A bank loans you the money and you have to pay it back later.
What is a learnership?
You earn while you learn, usually for a trade.
Once you have chosen your course and HEI, what should you do?
- Figure out your funding.
- Complete application forms.
- Arrange accommodation and travel.
What are SMART goals?
Goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.
What should you do after you have set you SMART goals?
- Make an action plan to achieve it.
- Carry out your action plan.
- Evaluate if you have achieved your goal or how far you still have to go.
What is unemployment?
Being without a job, joblessness.
What is a recession?
A downturn, slump or decline in the economy.
Which age group suffers the most unemployment in South Africa?
15-35 year olds.
