Q

blood composition

A

1 Plasma: the colourless watery fluid of the blood that conterns no cells, but in which the blood cells And Cerythrocytes, leukocytes, and plateles) are suspended.
2. Red Blood alls (Erythrocytes)- conten the pigment hemoglobin, which makes blood red and trans ports oxygen
3. White Blood Cells (Leukocytes) - play an important role in the immune system by protecting the body from disease.
4. Platelets- a small, round, thin blood cell that helps blood to stop flowing from a cut by becoming thick and sticky

Pathway of Blood through the Heart

A

-Deoxygenated blood entera the heart through the superior (top) and
inferior (bottom) vena cava
- Blood moves into the right atrium and then down inte the right ventricle.
- Blood flows out of the heart through the pulmonary artery (lungs)
- Blood flows to the lungs where oxygen diffuses into the blood from the lungs and carbon doxide dituses from the blood into the lungs,
- Oxygenated blood flows through the pulmonary veins back to the heart. These are the only veins in the body that camy oxygenated blood
- Blood flows into the left atrium and into the left ventricle and finally moves out of the heart through the aorta, the largest blood vessel in the entire body
-Blood moves into smaller arteries, arterioles and capillaries, before moving into veins and finally the superior venacava and back into the heart.
