Cardiovascular Drugs Flashcards
The system composed of heart and blood vessels.
Circulatory System
Cardiovascular _____ affect heart function in three main ways: By affecting the force of contraction of the heart and muscle (inotropic effects); by affecting the frequency of the heartbeat, or heart rate (chronotropic effects); by affecting the regularity of heartbeat (rhythmic effects).
drugs
a persistent systolic pressure of greater than 140mmHg and/or a diastolic pressure of greater than 90mmHg
Hypertension
Less than 120mmHg for systolic and less than 80 for diastolic?
normal
Higher than 180mmHg for systolic and Higher than 120mmHg for diastolic?
hypertensive crisis
Diuretics, Adrenergic Drugs, Direct Vasolidators, ACE inhibitors, Calcium channel blockers, Direct renin inhibitors, and Angiotensin receptor blockers.
Anti- hypertensives
It is used to provide immediate relief, minimize frequency of attacks and decrease intensity of pain with overall goal of increasing blood flow to the myocardium, decreasing oxygen demand.
Anti- anginal drugs
Occurs when the heart muscle doesn’t pump blood as well as it should.
Heart failure
Anorexia & Nausea, Weight Gain, Hepatomegaly, Edema, Ascites and Distended Neck Vein. (AW HEAD)
RIGHT-SIDED HEART FAILURE
Dyspnea, Orthopnea, Cough, Hemoptysis, Adventitious breath sounds, and Pulmonary congestion. (DO CHAP)
LEFT-SIDED HEART FAILURE
