Cardiovascular disease Flashcards
Infarct (hemorrhagic/anemic)
Area of ischemic necrosis caused by occlusion
Hemorrhagic: red. Vein occlusion/occlusion in area with collaterals. Necrotic tissue becomes red because of rbc leakage
Anemic: pale
Embolus
Mass that can occlude blood stream or lymph stream. Thromboembolism: occluding thrombus
Hyperemia
Vascular dilation. Seen at inflammatory response
Aneurysm
Localized bulge in the wall of a vessel following weakening of media.
True aneurism: Saccular ( I or fusiform ( ) ; false aneurism: formation of hematoma ; dissection: tear in intima
Stenosis
Narrowing of vessel.
4 main ways of edema development
I. increased capillary pressure
II. decreased plasma proteins
III. reduced lymphatic drainage
IV. increased capillary permeability
how u git cerebral edema?
Vasogenic / cytotoxic response after larger cerebral infarction.
