What is the management of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy?
Amioderone Beta blockers Cardioverter defibrillator Dual chamber pacemaker Endocarditis prophylaxis
What is the most common cause of an atrial spetal defect?
Ostium secundum
What is the most common congenital heart defect found in adults?
atrials eptal defect - ostium secundum (10 - 15% of all heart defects)
What are the two causes of atrial spetal defects?

Are atrial septal defects cyanotic or acyanotic? Why?
Acyanotic. There is oxygenated blood going tnto the right hand side. Cyanotic occurs when deoxygenated blood goes into the body.
What are the signs and symptoms of atrial septal defect?
Ejection systolic murmur with fixed splitting of S2 due to delayed pulmonic valce closure compared to the aortic valve
What are the potential complications of an atrial septal defect?
DVt crossing the atria and causing a paradoxical embolism for example in the brain
How are ASDs managed?
Children may be monitored initially as these may close on their own but surgery may also be needed.
What might you see on an ECG of an atrial septal defect?
Right bundle branch block and right axis deviation
What heart defects are associated with CHARGE syndrome?
Tetraolgy of fallot
Ventricula septal defects
What heart defect might you get in turners syndrome?
Coarctation of the aorta
What congenital heart defect is associated with a radio femoral delay?
Coarctation of the aorta
