Overview of regeneration
A
- 2m tourists a year
- 5000 homes built
- 17,000 jobs created
-road built to link to city centre
HOWEVER - Lloyd George avenue (road linking it to the centre) has caused decentralisation
- opportunity cost ($400m public money used)(money could have been spent to help residents more)
- ‘wrong sort’ of jobs created (tertiary instead of manufacturing)
- feel of social exclusion
- lack of spend on social projects (only 2% on Tiger Bay)
