Cardiac Rehab part 2 Flashcards
How do you calculate HR from EKG monitor?
30 squares 6 sec
count how many QRS complexes within 30 squares and multiply by 10.
What is a clinical indication of CHF?
jugular vein distention (right ventricle failing) peripheral edema.
What is the pitting edema scale?
1+ barely detectable impression
2+ Slight indentation 15 sec to rebound
3+ Deeper indentation 30 sec to rebound
4+ > 30 sec to rebound.
What are the two components of endurance
Central
- pulmonary
- cardiac
Peripheral
- systemic circulation
- muscle
What exam is used to determine the ability of the cardiac system to accommodate increasing metabolic demand?
ETT exercise tolerance test
If someone is in a lot of pain what is a good test to use to analyze the cardiovascular system?
Pharmalogical stress test
What is the exercise prescription based on?
Fit equation
- Frequency
- Intensity
- Time
- Type
What is a normal exercise frequency?
3-5 times a week
What is a normal duration goal?
30-40 min with 5-10 min cool down/warm up
What is phase 1 of cardiac rehab?
Inpatient facility Low level exercise and pt. education "fairly light RPE 11" end when the pt. is ready to go home Goal: self care and independence MET level 1-6
What is phase 2 of cardiac rehab?
Outpatient EKG monitored supervised 2-4 weeks after discharge from the hospital Intensity: Activities between 4-9 METS 3-6 months Do not exceed 90% of ischemic RPP.
What is phase 3 of cardiac rehab?
Outpatient with decreased monitoring health facilities and maintenance program Intensity: > 8 METS 13-15 Borg scale 12 weeks or longer no medical supervision start strength training!
What is phase 4 of cardiac rehab?
Community based independent living
strength
sternal precautions
How do you calculate RPP?
HR x SP
