Blockage of coronary arteries/ narrowing
Angina
Myocardial heart infarction
Heart failure
1 in 7 men 1 in 12 women
Pain, weakness, nausea, rapid heart rate, SOB, fatigue, dizziness
What is Angina?
Chest pain - lack of oxygen Transient Stable- predictable times Unstable- unpredictable Variant- CA spasm Micro vascular - the smaller vessels Medication, surgery, lifestyle
What is Myocardial Infarction?
Severed blood supply to heart
Ischaemia of heart muscle and scar tissue
Left ventricle most common
Diagnosis- release of troponin 3-6 hours, ECG
Symptoms of CHD
Sudden death, cardiac shock etc
Drugs, surgery and physio
What is heart failure?
Heart stops working- fatigue, weakness, other conditions
SOB
Fatigue and weakness
Swollen feet, ankles, stomach, lower back
What is Heart Valve Disease?
Affects any heart valves Damaged valve affecting blood flow, causing leaking Caused by other conditions - damage SOB Ankle/feet swelling Fatigue
