Q

name the valves in the heart and describe their location

A

atrioventricular valves (between the atrium and ventricle on both sides), sumi-lunar valves (in the arteries as blood leaves the heart)

Q

compare single and double circulation

A

single- blood passes through the heart once on each circuit of the body, double- blood passed trhough the heart twice on each circuit of the body

Q

what is diastole?

A

atria relax and begin to fill with blood, atrioventricular valves open, ventricles are relaxed so theres a lower pressure and blood enters from the atria, arterial pressure is high, semilunar valves close to prevent backflow of blood

Q

what is atrial systole?

A

atria contract so have a higher pressure, ventricles are relaxed so have a lower pressure, atrioventricular valves open, blood flows from atria to ventricles

Q

explain how valves control the flow of blood through the heart?
