Capter 6 Flashcards

1
Q

Why is sleep important when it comes to learning?

A
  • During sleep the new dendritic spines pop out and grow larger.
  • The mind rehearses the information.
  • electric signals that arise while rehearsing during sleep explain why dendritic splines and links grow so rapidly.
    • neurons move from hyppocampus to cerebral cortex
    • clear hyppocampus
    • build new synaptic connections

Q

How are dendritic spines like lie detectors?

A

Because they grow when you are really focusing.

So they can tell you if you are not focusing :)

Q

Why is it good to space out your learning?

A

Because there is more time to grow dendritic spines and the synaptic connections.

Q

What is a good timing to do ACTIVE RECALL, to store definetly things in long term memory?

A

To study new informations I will do this over days.

  • 1 new things
  • 2,3 rehearse
  • 4 pause
  • 5 rehearse
  • 6 pause
  • 7 rehearse
