What is procrastination?
Procrastination means postponing things to the last moment.
Why is procrastination bad for your learning?
Because you run out of time to build learning structures.
What happens in your brain when you think about something you don’t like or don’t want to do?
It activates the INSULAR CORTEX, which is the same center of the pain. If you start the pain sensation will go away in 20 min.
How would you explain the Pomodoro Technique to someone who had never heard of it?
25 min of focus mode and 10 min of the diffuse mode.
What is the most important part of the whole Pomodoro process?
switch between the two phases.
What should you do during your break between Pomodoros?
Diffuse mode. So mainly put the attention on nothing.
- walking/swimming/dancing
- sleeping
- shower/hot bathtub
- listen to music
- play on an instrument something that I already know.
- cuddle dog.
What can be good about going into zombie mode?
A good habit is a good zombie mode. If we establish good strategies/patterns they can support our study.
What does zombie mode have to do with procrastination?
Good zombies help to avoid distractions:
- put the phone in silent mode.
- train zombie to tell my brother that I’m doing a pomodoro.
- have a snack or toilet before doing a pomodoro.
What was the point of the arsenic eaters’ story? How does it link to procrastination?
Because a bit of arsenic every day killed them. The same of a bit of procrastination every day.
10 min more of social media. 15 min more of computer game.
I will get stressed and miss deadlines.
