Capter 15 - HOW TO DO WELL ON TESTS Flashcards
Why tests are good?
Because they force active recall!
How to approach a test?
1) Read all the questions and mark the one more difficult.
2) Start from the one more difficult (eat your frog first)
3) After 2 min that I get stuck, go to a more easy one, to get more motivation. I can do even 2 of an easy one.
4) Go back to the more complicated one.
How to lower the tension during the test?
Deep breath in the belly.
In the days before I can train deep breathing and active recall.
What should I do when I finish answering a question, especially math.
Look away and come back with fresh eyes asking myself “Does it makes sense”?
What does it mean “Think like a teacher”?
Create questions about the material.
I can do this with a friend.
Example of “shift your thinking”, to start an exam.
This test makes me afraid -> I’m excited to do my best! :)
What is “30’ habit” after a lecture ?
After every lecture, take 30’ to write down the most important points.
This helps to get more focused during the lecture.
What is the best way to do active recall? (In day timing)
1,2,3,5,7
How make our learning interactive?
1) Generate your own examples and methaforas.
2) summarize it.
3) write an exam question for it.
4) explain to someone else.
