Q

why does chronic inflammation cause cancer?

A
  • Increases cellular stress signals
  • Can lead to genotoxic stress
  • Increasing mutation rates in cells
  • Growth factors/cytokines released by cells often induce proliferation
  • Inflammation is proangiogenic
