Canada’s government can be described in 5 ways. What are they?
As a democracy, as having a constitutional monarchy, as a parliamentary system, as a federal system, & as a cabinet.
Democracy
A form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the majority of people, & exercised by them either directly or indirectly through a system of representation. This usually involves elections
A form of government in which the powers of the ruler are restricted to those granted under the constitution & laws of the country.
Constitutional Monarchy
A form of government in which there is an absence of clear separation between the legislative branch & the executive branch.
Parliamentary System
In a parliamentary system, the executive branch is blank & blank the legislative branch.
Fused With, Dependent On
A form of government in which the power to make laws is shared by the national & provincial government.
Federal System
A government in which the real executive power rests with a cabinet of ministers who are individually & collectively responsible to the legislature.
Cabinet
What are the three branches of Canada’s government?
Legislative, Executive, & Judicial
Legislative Branch
The branch of government which is responsible for making laws.
Executive Branch
The branch of government which is responsible for putting laws into effect on a daily basis.
Judicial Branch
The branch of government which is responsible for decisions if an individual has broken the law, as well as punishing the guilty.
What are the three level of Canada’s government?
Federal, Provincial, & Municipal
Federal Level
The level of government which is responsible for making laws which govern the country.
Provincial Level
The level of government which is responsible for making laws which govern the province.
Municipal Level
The level of government which is responsible for making laws which govern the city or town.
