What is the relevance/ adaptations of OWC
Can carry up to 300kg (useful in transport), renal mechanisms to reduce water lost, different RBC shape to carry water well, can drink several litres of water/ minute
What are the uses of OWC
Milk, meat, hide, transport, tourism, security, capital
What is the Aus. relevance of OWC
Imported in 1840 for transport, 15,000 more imported then cars invented. Camels released and because feral
What is the impact of feral camels in Aus.
Consume vegetation, drink waterholes dry, destroy property (fences), compete with livestock for feed/ water
Gov. project to reduce feral population
Main uses of domesticated Aus. camel industry (4)
Tourism, meat, live export, racing
