Beatitudes
The 8 laws given to us by God to ensure our happiness; given on the Sermon on the Mount.
Actual Grace
The supernatural, free, undeserved help from God is given in specific circumstances to help choose the good and avoid evil.
Christian Discipleship
Being a follower of Christ. Involves a conversion of heart and a life centered on Jesus Christ as well as following his teachings and being a witness to others.
Common Priesthood of the Faithful
Participation in the priesthood of Christ shared by all the faithful through Baptism.
Conscience
The inner voice of a human being, in whose heart is inscribed the Law of God.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, piety, knowledge, and fear of the Lord.
Grace
Free and undeserved gift to respond to one’s vocation to become his adoped son or daughter.
Holiness
An attribute of God describing his complete separation from the sphere of profane. We can become holy by dedicating ourselves to God.
Laity
The faithful people, who have undergone Baptism, are made part of the people of God with the Church; cannot have undergone Holy Orders.
Law of Love
The love of God above all else and love their neighbors as themselves.
Ministerial Priesthood
Consists of the people who have received Holy Orders.
Natural Law
Objective order established by God that determines the requirements for people to thrive and reach fulfillment. Natural law enables man to discern by reason the good and the evil, the truth and the lie.
Precepts of the Church
Duties required by the Catholic Church of her members in order to ensure a certain minimum in their spiritual and moral lives.
Saint
Someone on earth, in Purgatory, or in Heaven notable for holiness and heroic virtue. They share in God’s life, glory, and happiness.
Sanctification
The process of being made holy; starts with Baptism and ends when a person reaches Heaven.
