Gabriel

Annunciation
Mary’s agreement to give birth to Jesus. Gabirel sent the request to her from God.
Atonement
Reparation for an offense through a voluntary action that expiates the injustice done.
Nativity
The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in Bethlehem as well as the events surrounding his birth
Fiat
Latin for “let it be done.” This was Mary’s response to God’s plan of redemption.
Magi
The wise men described in Matthew chapter 2. They came from the east to adore baby Jesus and to bring him gifts.
Elizabeth
The wife of Zechariah, mother of John the Baptist, and kinswoman of Mary.
Genealogy
Greek for “tracing of descent”; the study of ancestry or a list of someone’s ancestors.
Anna
prophetess who recognized Jesus as the Messiah when he was presented in the Temple. Ann is also another name for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Finding in the Temple
Jesus was missing for 3 days, and when he was found, he was in the Temple preaching at the age of 12.
Immaculate Conception
Mary’s conception without Original Sin at birth.
Incarnation
from the Latin “to become flesh.” The Mystery of the hypostatic union of the divine and human natures in Jesus Christ.
Indwelling of the Blessed Trinity
The Trinity is present in one’s soul from the moment of Baptism and remain as long as that soul is in a state of grace.
Justification
Being made right with God; a free and undeserved gift of God through Jesus’ sacrifice.
Mary
the mother of Jesus. Her greatest privilege is her divine motherhood and her title: Bearer of God.
Paschal Mystery
Christ’s work of redemption accomplished by his Passion, Death and Resurrection.
Presentation
Was performed in obedience to the Mosaic Law, which required the offering of the firstborn male, as well as the ritual purification of the mother, 40 days after childbirth.
Redemption
Jesus Christ set man free from the slavery of sin by his sacrificial death on the cross.
Sanctifying grace
free and unmerited favor of God dispensed through the sacraments.
Simeon
recognized Jesus as the Christ at the Presentation in the Temple.
Virgin birth
The Blessed Virgin Mary conceived Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. She was a Virgin when she gave birth to Jesus.
Visitation
Mary visited her kinswoman Elizabeth. Elizabeth said to her, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”
