What if the definition of a caesarean section?

A

An operative procedure which is carried out under anaesthesia whereby the fetus, placenta and membranes are delivered through an incision made in the abdominal wall and uterus (hayman, 2015)

A
  1. immediate threat to life <30min
  2. M/F compromise <75mins
  3. No F/M compromise but needs early delivery
  4. deliver time to suit woman or staff (NICE 2004)
