How to suggest suitable chords
A
- Work out the key of the piece
- Write down the notes which make up the triads of I, II, IV and V
- The first note under each bracket must be part of the chord you choose
- Do the last chord of each cadence first, ending on I or V
- Make sure each progression has no repeated chords

Q
Finding an Ic-V progression
A
Often found just before a perfect cadence
Ic is a tonic chord in second inversion, so the lowest note is the 5th of the triad
Va is a dominant chord in root position. In the key of major, the dominant is the lowest note
The lowest note is the same in both chords$
