C6.2 Flashcards

1
Q

How are carboxylic acids made?

A
  1. Alcohols react w oxidising agents = potassium manganate(VII) solution acidified w little dilute sulfuric acid
  2. Add some oxidising agent to ethanol and warm in WATER BATH
  3. Colour change observed = purple to pale pink
