C6 cell division Flashcards
What is the cell cycle split into?
Mitosis and interphase
What is G1 in the cell cycle ?
Where cycle growth occurs
The organelles are doubling
What is S in the cell cycle stand for?
Synthesis
What happens in S1?
DNA synthesis / replication , transcription and translation
Very Short time
We don’t want the DNA to be open for too long because of mutation
What is G2?
It’s is for cell growth but in this case it replicates proteins for mitosis
Proteins contains tubeles
Proteins only have to be specific for mitosis in this case centromeres
What is the Final phase of the cell cycle ?
Mitosis
What is G0?
The phase of the cell cycle during which a cell is neither dividing nor preparing to divide
What is mitosis and what is the function?
Mitosis is the identical cell division and the function is growth and repair and asexual reproduction
What is the acronym to remember mitosis stages ?
PMAT
What happens in the prophase ?
The DNA is enclosed in the nucleus
That Nucleus is disintegrated and now the DNA is free to move
What happens in Metaphase in mitosis?
The chromosome move to the middle and lines up in the middle
What happens in anaphase ?
What happens in telophase?
In telophase , is opposite of prophase , the nuclear membrane of the nucleus starts to form before the cell splits
What are tubeles ?
Tubules are a type of organelles which helps movement in and out of the cell and in cell division , it contain spindle fibres which help with the movement
What phase are tubeles found?
Metaphase , either side of the cell
