Q

What’s the purpose of TIPS?

A

provides a means of measuring axial thermal neutron flux throughout the reactor core. Information is used to:

  1. Calibrate LPRM detectors
  2. Provide graphs of thermal neutron flux versus axial position in the core.
  3. Provide thermal flux information to the process computer

Q

What’s the TIPs indexer?

A

Provides a path between the guide tube of the drive mechanism and one of the 9 or 10 guide tubes going into the core

Q

What is the flux probing monitor?

A

operates in conjunction with the TIP detectors, provides a meter read out and X-Y plot of the neutron flux level throughout the reactor core at the location selected by channel switch
