C5105 - TIPS Flashcards
Who operates TIPS?
reactor engineering
where are the storage locations?
100” below the bottom of the core or on the drywell wall
What’s the power supply to the drive mechanism?
11B12
what’s the power supply to the control unit power?
1Y74
What’s the purpose of TIPS?
provides a means of measuring axial thermal neutron flux throughout the reactor core. Information is used to:
- Calibrate LPRM detectors
- Provide graphs of thermal neutron flux versus axial position in the core.
- Provide thermal flux information to the process computer
What is TIPS used for?
Calibrating LPRMs to feed APRMs
Are TIPS always in the core?
No, they are pulled from the core to prevent pulling them out
What’s the TIPs indexer?
Provides a path between the guide tube of the drive mechanism and one of the 9 or 10 guide tubes going into the core
What is the flux probing monitor?
operates in conjunction with the TIP detectors, provides a meter read out and X-Y plot of the neutron flux level throughout the reactor core at the location selected by channel switch
