aid provided by gov of one country to gov of another country
advantage: helps reduce poverty and bring long term sustainable development by helping gov to strengthen their systems and become self-sufficient
disadvantage: may be based on political ties, incorrect use of aid by corrupt gov

multilateral aid definition
aid provided through an international organisation (eg. WHO) that combines donations from several countries and distributes it to recipients
advantage: less tied to political interests + efficient pooling of resources to address global issues and equity
how multilateral aid promotes hwb and human development
hwb:
- addressing global issues
–> less relocation from rising sea levels –> stress stress + negative emotions –> mental + emotional hwb
–> reduce diseases like asthma, stroke, cvd, malaria, diarrhoea –> physical h+wb

human development:
- reducing disease transmission can increase life expectancy
- food supply means people have energy to work for income –> money to buy resources for decent standard of living

Advantages:
- focuses on small community-based projects
- meets basic hwb needs + promote community participation
- brings strong connections to local communities
