1) thin white d/c
2) clue cells
3) pH >4.5

Hay/ Ison criteria for BV
Grade 1: normal lacto
Grade 2: intermediate mixed flora with some lacto but gardnerella or mobiluncus also
Grade 3 BV : mainly gardnerella or mobiluncus. Few or absent lacto
Rx for BV standard 4 options
Metronidazole 400mg BD for 5/7
Metronidazole 2g stat
Intravaginal metronodazole 0.75% OD for 5/7
Intravaginal clindamycin cream 2% OD for 7/7 can weaken codnoms
Alternative BV Rx
Tinidazole 2g single dose or
Clindamycin 300mg BD for 7/7
Breastfeeding women and Rx for BV
Intravaginal metronidazole
Recurrent BV Mx
Metronidazole vaginal gel twice weekly for 16 weeks
