> Few rules, broken by those in power
competitive atmosphere - employees “looking out for themselves” > maximise their personal power + meet personal objectives within the business
e.g. relatively young, small- to medium-sized businesses – founded by single owner, still holds tight control
Task culture
> Expertise/task capability > power
teamwork - common
teams created, dissolved as work changes
adaptability, dynamism - important
Role culture
Positions > power, e.g. marketing director
>Bureaucratic decisions (well-established rules & procedures)
>Tall or flat hierarchy, but long chain of command
>e.g. Civil Service
Person culture
Purpose > support skilled individuals
Teamwork = uncommon
Skilled individuals - similar background, skillset, training
e.g. firms of accountants, lawyers
