Industrialisation and Urbanisation is the most important factor.

- 1928 passing of the equal franchise act, which gave all women the vote on equal terms and men.
- 1885 passing of the redistribution of seats act, which redrew boundaries to make electoral districts equal.

Industrialisation meant that most of Britain’s wealth was no longer generated through agriculture but rather through industry, yet the political system gave power to the landowners this caused the Factory owners to put pressure on the government to change the system.
Industrialisation also created lots of jobs and as a result the population of towns and cities drastically increased
